Through the Future Networks Forum, we have produced a 'connection queueing and management policy' for lines companies. It provides a nationally consistent approach to managing medium and large load and distributed generation connection applications.
The policy establishes common principles and processes for managing connection applications, including project prioritisation, clock stop/start arrangements, milestones, and information publication. It is designed to improve transparency and consistency across the sector while helping ensure projects that are genuinely ready to proceed can continue to progress efficiently.
This was produced in response to the Electricity Authority's 'network connections project – stage one decision' and Concept Consulting was engaged to develop the policy.
The Electricity Authority's Code amendments require lines companies to implement the policy from:
- 1 December 2026 for distributed generation applications; and
- 1 June 2027 for load applications.
