As New Zealand moves towards full decarbonisation and electrification, lines companies are increasingly looking for third parties to help them deliver enhanced network capacity, performance and reliability using non-traditional approaches.

As New Zealand moves towards full decarbonisation and electrification, lines companies are increasingly looking for third parties to help them deliver enhanced network capacity, performance and reliability using non-traditional approaches. These are generically described as non-network alternatives, or sometimes non-wires alternatives.

ENA will update this page with open requests being run by lines companies for non-network alternative support. Where possible, ENA will also provide links to information on closed requests as well.

Localflex opportunities 

Localflex is an auction-based trading platform that enables lines companies and DSO's to connect with Flexibility Service Providers. Any asset, site, or portfolio capable of modulating its demand or generation can sign up to offer flexibility, contributing to a more sustainable and efficient energy system.
